RADIO STATION MANAGER
BASIC DESCRIPTION
To direct and manage all operations of the College Community Radio Station in compliance with federal regulations, and College, Community and listeners needs, conduct fundraising activities to support station, and direct financial and physical development.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** Design, implement and evaluate systems for all aspects of the College community radio station, including on-air programming, technical, personnel and volunteer management, while complying with all FCC regulations.
** Define and schedule on-air programs, and produce Internet and other communications to inform and attract listeners; consult with listeners, producers and College administrators regarding programming interests; maintain a balance between institutional, community and audience interests.
** Plan, and conduct a variety of fundraising campaigns using on and off-air activities; prepare grant requests to support new and continuing projects.
** Develop and maintain the Station budget, including operating expenses and new equipment purchases; prepare bills and collected accounts receivable.
** Contract with and ensure compliance with contract agreements with underwriters, networks, satellite services, independent producers, music broadcasts and web-casting licenses.
** Train employees, students and community volunteers in use of broadcast equipment; recording engineering equipment; radio production; and, music, news, and public service broadcasting.
** Design and implement special projects such as increasing student and faculty involvement, digitizing archives; expanding coverage area.
** Other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General Supervision is received from the Dean of Community Life.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Administrative and functional supervision of radio assistant(s) and all volunteers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in media or a related field with a Master’s degree desirable, plus a minimum of three years’ experience in radio production.
** Knowledge of radio electronics, network and web-casting applications.
** Familiarity with FCC regulations.
** Ability to fund raise and to prepare grants and other such proposals.
** Excellent interpersonal, communication and administrative skills.
** Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of students, faculty, staff and administrators and volunteers, in carrying out the various responsibilities of radio station management, operation and production.
