Paula Giddings
This Thursday is International Women’s Day, and my feature for you is a segment from one of the most popular recordings we’ve played recently.
Historian and author Paula Giddings gave a talk at the African-American Women Scholars Conference in 1992, in which she presents a biographical sketch of Ida B. Wells, an African-American woman who began the Civil Rights movement right after the Civil War. When KPFT first played this lecture, we got many calls of interest. Below is an excerpt of that lecture.
You can order the CD from the Pacifica Radio Archives.
Tune in Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for special International Women’s Day programming. You’ll want to stay tuned for some great programming.
