Tonight’s Special
Just a reminder that the national special on Palestine’s 40th’s anniversary of its invasion airs this evening at 6 p.m. I had an opportunity to hear Cages and Dreams last night. Very informative program, about half of which is produced right here at KPFT. Said Fattouh of Arab Voices delivers the initial piece, setting the context; Julia Nasser comes about midway with a pair of great interviews; and Maurice Roberts ends the program with a superb piece featuring poetry and interviews.
Also, while you’re online, visit the KPFT Archive to hear last night’s youth show (Saturdays, 9 p.m.), which features a Juneteenth commemorative segment done by the Summer Youth Program on the history of slavery abolitionism. It’s a great mix, with all the scripting, music selections, etc. done by the youth themselves.
