Staff Nominations Extended

Thank you to the elections staff for being strict with this matter. KPFT’s staff candidate nomination period has been extended. This is in large part due to the fact Local Election Supervisor in Houston, Mark Muhich, with the assistance of former LES Tucker Bradley, has determined that none of the Staff candidates for LSB has sufficient signatures of Staff voters to qualify for the ballot.

The problem seems to be that many programmers simply assumed their membership status as Staff voters without logging in their hours during the qualifying period. This is despite the fact that management placed signs prominently about the station requesting log-in of hours and emailed programmers about the matter of documentation. We did so all summer and well into the spring as well. Problems with recording of volunteer and unpaid staff hours is typical at stations throughout the network.

We’ve extended the Staff petition period by one week to Wednesday, October 3.

Elections was unable to certify that many signers of Staff petitions are qualified as Unpaid Staff based on incomplete Volunteer logs. A new logbook will be placed on the credenza in the lobby for you to record your hours, as well as the hours of your assistants between June 1 and August 31.

PLEASE help us! In order to be considered Unpaid Staff, all Programmers and their assistants need to update their hours by October 3.
