Princeton Fest Opportunity

The Princeton Public Library invites high school students interested in film and video production to enter the 5th annual Princeton Student Film & Video Festival, set for July 16th and 17th, 2008. The festival is held at the Princeton Public Library, 65 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ.

The Princeton Student Film and Video Festival, now in its fifth year, will offer youth the opportunity to share their films and creative abilities and viewpoints with the public.

The festival in 2008 will once again feature works by students in high school and college (up to age 24). They are invited to submit original short films (20 minutes or less in running time) by June 15th. There is no fee to submit work and students may submit more than one project for consideration.

The range and style of films may include (but are not limited to) animation, comedy or parody, commercials, documentary, short feature, experimental, music video, personal narrative, public service announcement (PSA).

The student filmmakers who have films selected for the festival will be invited to attend, introduce, and talk about their films.

The submission guidelines and entry form are online here.

We are also featuring a program next week called Digital Video Toolbox on Saturday, March 15th at 9:30 a.m. at the Princeton Public Library. It is designed to support students who want to start, or who are already in progress on video projects, and features Princeton-based video producer-director Seth Mellman, who will discuss the tools necessary to create high quality digital video from concept to completion. It is open to all ages, including students preparing work for the fifth annual Princeton Student Film and Video Festival. Those with films in progress are invited to bring their rough cuts for input. No admission or registration is required and it will take place in the library’s Community Room, at 65 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ.
