“The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Liberal-leaning Cleveland-area Talk host Merle Pollis has died at age 69. Pollis, who was ill with a respiratory condition and congestive heart failure, had been on-air in the Cleveland-area since 1973 and was part of the ‘People Power’ team on WERE-AM.
“Former WERE station manager John Webster hired Pollis away from Pittsburgh because, he said, Pollis ‘was very controversial, very kind of liberal. Sometimes he would get wild. He knew how to turn an issue. He was for abortions at a time when Roe versus Wade hadn’t come down yet. He was very good.”‘
