Journey of Hope

The Journey of Hope. From Violence to Healing will be in Houston from October 13 - 16, 2007. The Journey is a speaking tour led by people who have lost a loved one to murder, but who still oppose the death penalty. Their stories of compassion, forgiveness and mercy are amazing. They will be joined on the Journey by exonerated death row prisoners and activists concerned about the death penalty.

The Journey will kick off its Houston tour at the University of St. Thomas (Jerabeck Center) at 7pm on Saturday, October 13. The program will include Sr. Helen Prejean of “Dead Man Walking” fame, singer/songwriter Nanci Griffith, and Marietta Jaeger-Lane who lost her daughter, Susie, to murder when she was seven years old. The event is free and open to the public.

Journey members will be available to speak at churches and congregations on Sunday, October 14. They will also be available to speak at high schools, universities, civic clubs and other organizations on October 15 and 16. There is no charge for speakers although donations are warmly accepted to defray the cost of the tour.

To schedule a speaker, contact Dave Atwood at 832-693-5710 or dpatwood@igc.org.
