Boston DJ Suspended for Slur

WRKO Boston suspended Talk host John DePetro yesterday and ordered him to apologize for a remark he made Monday morning during a discussion about Matt Amorello – chairman of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority – who has come under intense criticism since ceiling panels in a Big Dig tunnel collapsed, killing a woman.

DePetro said on air that he didn’t mean that Amorello – who has a wife – is gay, but that he’s a “sissy boy.”

In an interview with the Boston Globe, WRKO VP/Programming Jason Wolfe said, “This corporation has zero tolerance for racial intolerance. Mr. DePetro has 72 hours to think about it.” Wolfe said he chose the word “racial” because “people will lump everything in together.”
